Michael Talento is a Brooklyn based Saxophonist/ Composer/ Arranger/ Educator.
Michael's Story
Michael Talento is a Saxophonist/Composer/Arranger born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Michael began his formal education at West Chester University outside of Philadelphia, earning a Bachelors of Arts in Jazz Saxophone in 2017. While at West Chester, Michael performed as a member of the Criterions Big Band, and shared the stage with numerous artists including Delfeo Marsalis, Guillermo Klein, John Swana, and more. He also was awarded with the Michael Falcone Memorial Jazz scholarship during his time there.
After graduating from West Chester, Michael continued on with his education, earning a Masters of Music in Jazz Studies form New England Conservatory in 2019. At New England Conservatory Michael performed in numerous ensembles headed by jazz legends such as Jerry Bergonzi, Dave Holland, Bob Moses, and Jason Moran. As a member NEC Jazz Orchestra, Michael played a wide variety of music with artists such as Freddy Cole, Miguel Zenon, Ethan Iverson, Ran Blake, and Dominique Eade.
During his career, Michael has been fortunate enough to study privately with a plethora of amazing musicians including: Norman Manno, Greg Riley, John Swana, Ben Schacter, Jerry Bergonzi, Donny McCaslin, Mark Turner, Miguel Zenon, Frank Carlberg, and John McNeil.
Michael currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, playing and teaching professionally.
